Can I Do It?
Only you know what you are capable of. The BFD
offers you full support to put your current skills to use and to
provide you with new ones. You will never be asked to do
something you are uncomfortable with. In addition there are many
levels of participation available.
Can My Family Participate?
The Brighton Fire Department is family oriented.
We encourage participation to all members of your family.
Kids over 14 can join the Fire Explorer program, while anyone
else over 18 can join the Fire Dept either as a firefighter or a
non-firematic associate member.
My Spouse doesn't want to join, so what's in it for them?
In addition to knowing you are making a difference in your
community, the BFD has several social functions throughout the
year that include significant others.
I am afraid of heights. Is that Bad?
Many firefighter both career and volunteer are afraid of
heights.
While we will help you get past this, you will never be
forced into any situation.
Am I am too busy to give
to volunteer my time?
Again, only you know what you are capable of; but
don't tell our current volunteers you are too busy. It is
likely they may be a Lawyer, Doctor, Judge, Engineer, mother,
father, Business Owner etc...
The BFD is proud to have members who make time to give to their
community and pass this tradition on to their families.
